Mannford athlete Peyton Carson gave an interview with VYPE.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals for the year are to break my prs in track in the 800, 1600, and 3200. I want to win State in at least one event and enjoy my last track season with the team. I want to maintain my 4.0 gpa in my highschool and college classes. I want to get acclimated to college in the fall.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
This past summer I went to Panama with my mom, step dad, and brother and Colorado with my dad and brother. I love the ocean and we rode ATVs through the forest in Panama. Panama was beautiful and the weather was perfect. We went to Colorado Springs and explored Colorado everyday. We hiked and drove to Pikes Peak. I got to run around multiple trails with the UCCS team. I love traveling and spending time with my family.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Lovell. Mrs. Lovell teaches Algebra 2 but she also teaches College Algebra. Mrs. Lovell truly cares about her students and has always been there to answer my questions. Mrs. Lovell is truly an amazing teacher and I am thankful for her and her desire to help students succeed.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory is winning state in the 2 mile during track. Winning state was a huge accomplishment but what I think makes it more memorable is the amount of time and training that goes into it. My step dad is always by my side training me and I am so thankful for him and the amount of time and effort he puts in. I also am extremely thankful for my mom, dad, brother, and family that come to all my running events. Winning State was a huge personal accomplishment but it was shared by my whole family.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Bella Pehrson. We are both seniors and have run together since 7th grade. In track we run the 4×400 together and that has been so much fun. It is nice to have someone on the track that has gone through the years with you and supports you. She always cheers me on in my individual events and we make a strong duo in the 4×400. Running with her has been something I am thankful for.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of the team is the support and atmosphere. As a team we are training together everyday no matter if its cold, rainy, windy, or anything else. The team supports each other throughout our different events and we have a lot of team success. Our relays are strong and so are the individual events so the atmosphere in track is definitely something I am happy to be a part of.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I love traveling and am always down to go anywhere. I love the beach or mountains. I would love to go anywhere in Europe as I have never been to Europe. I would take my family with me, but especially my mom. My family loves to travel and exploring Europe would be so much fun with them.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would spend the $500 dollars on new clothes, shoes, gas, and food. I love shopping so I would buy more gym and running clothes or any outfits I have been wanting. I would also buy lunch since shopping always makes me hungry. Then I would fill up my tank so I do not have to buy my own gas.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I am involved in the National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, Leadership Club, Book Club, and am a constant recipient of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. I do community service for the National Honor Society and participate in the different activities each club offers.
