Yale’s Teal Fritchman – Cheerleader Spotlight – Presented by Mugsy’s Grubhouse and American Heritage Bank

Yale High School sophomore Teal Fritchman approaches cheerleading, academics and life with the same determined mindset: consistent effort leads to growth. A side base for her stunt group, Fritchman values the trust, teamwork and relationships that come from being part of the cheer squad.

“I love everyone on my team, including my coach. I have the best group of girls on my team. My absolute favorite part just as to be spending time with everyone, along with learning new dances and stunts we can do.”

Cheerleading begins well before the school year starts for Fritchman and her teammates. The group spends much of the summer preparing through Pride activities and practices, putting in the work needed to perform together once the season arrives.

“Our practice starts mid summer break. I have summer pride on most days and cheer practice.”

That commitment has shaped how Fritchman views success beyond athletics. She has learned that progress is not accidental; it comes from showing up, practicing and continuing to work toward a goal.

“Athletics have taught me to work for my goals. It has made me a very determined person who now understands that practices and consistency is key to becoming better. This helps me to strive for my goals in my future.”

Fritchman carries that same focus into the classroom. She is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and maintains a 4.0 GPA. Her favorite class is anatomy and physiology through Central Tech’s biomedical program, where she enjoys learning in an engaging environment.

“My favorite subject in school has to be anatomy and physiology, which I take in my biomedical class in central tech. Mr. Benton makes the work so much fun is an amazing instructor. There is not a single day that I dread going to that class.”

Her mother has been an important source of inspiration. Fritchman admires her mother’s resilience and ability to meet challenges head-on.

“My mom. She is the strongest woman I know. No matter the challenges life gives her, she is willing enough to get back up and face it.”

Within the cheer program, Fritchman looks up to senior Avery Morphew and appreciates the leadership she provides to the squad. She also credits coach Jessica Crowe for making a lasting difference through her care for every athlete.

Outside of school and cheer, Fritchman enjoys studying her faith, taking walks, baking and spending time with friends. She also recommends Mugsys Grubhouse, citing its welcoming staff. Humble and driven, Fritchman continues to build a strong foundation for her future through faith, academics and athletics.
