Chandler High School senior Kale Winters enters his final season with a clear mindset shaped by discipline, family influence and a passion for the game.
Winters, a tight end, credits his mother as his biggest inspiration.
“I would say the person who inspires me is my mom and how hard she works,” Winters said.
That work ethic carries into his role on the field, where he says one of the biggest challenges is staying mentally sharp.
“The hardest thing about my position is probably remembering your routes,” he said.
Despite the demands, Winters embraces the grind. He points to team workouts as one of his favorite aspects of being part of the program, along with the bond he shares with his teammates.
“What I love most about my team is their toughness and ability to fight through tough situations,” Winters said.
One of his most memorable moments came during a game against Kiefer, a contest he remembers from start to finish. On the other end of the spectrum, he recalls one of the wildest moments he has seen on the field — a freshman getting knocked down on his very first play.
Off the field, Winters enjoys spending time with friends and playing video games. Around Chandler, he names the local bowling alley as his favorite spot.
In the classroom, Winters has a strong interest in history and cites Mrs. Smith as his favorite teacher.
As a multi-sport athlete, Winters also participates in basketball and supports school events by working concessions. His involvement reflects a commitment to his school community beyond football.
To prepare mentally for games, Winters listens to music, helping him stay focused before kickoff.
Through athletics, he has learned a lesson that extends beyond sports.
“If you want something, you have to work for it,” he said.
As he looks ahead, Winters carries that mindset into both his final season and his future beyond high school.
