8There is someone in each of our lives that helps shape us into the person that we are or will become. Whether these people are in our lives every day or are someone that we see occasionally, the impact that they have on our lives can be immeasurable. Roan Goodwin has a few people that have had an influence on his life.

“My parents and siblings are my role models,” he said. “My parents are always pushing me to do better and my siblings I just always wanna be better than them so that really pushes me. Also, the teacher that has influenced me is coach Kinzer has had the biggest impact on my life because he has taught me a lot in class and on the field.”

Roan is a senior at Bristow High School, where he plays soccer and football for the Pirates. During his career, he has experienced some outstanding moments, but he has one that he considers his favorite.

“The highlight of my career was winning nationals with my club team,” Roan recalled. “The team I enjoy beating the most would have to be Mannford because they are our rival school.”

Kenny Kinzer is the head coach of the Bristow boys soccer team. He says that Goodwin is an outstanding athlete and student.

“Roan finished the regular season last year as the leading scorer for all classes with 27 goals,” Kinzer said. “He also finished leading the state in total points, goals, and assists. Roan is an exceptional young man, he is a talented soccer player, he not only excels on the field but also in the classroom. His leadership will be key to our team’s success this season.”

When it comes to his teammates, Roan says that they work together well and make each other better.

“I enjoy working against Bryson Barnett the most in practice because we are good friends and we always push each other,” he said. “I think that Bryson Barnett is the least appreciated player on our team. He doesn’t get a lot of the credit he deserves playing defense he doesn’t get to score all the goals and do all the flashy stuff but he really leads and holds down our back line.”
