Davenport’s Carter Marshall – Presented by Ortho Oklahoma

Carter Marshall is a freshman at Davenport High School. He participates in baseball, basketball, football, track, and student council. Carter got his start in sports from his family at the age of four and hit his first home run at the age of nine. When he was a kid, his dad and papa coached him in little league. His older brother was also involved in sports and he was always at his practices and games. The person that has made the biggest positive impact on Carter has been his dad. “He always pushes me to be my best,” Carter says.

In school, Carter’s favorite subject is Spanish. He says that it’s fun to learn a different language. His favorite teacher is Mr. Case. He enjoys the class because Mr. Case uses sports in his examples and likes to tell jokes. Carter doesn’t currently have any definitive plans for after highschool.

Carter’s biggest role models are his parents. “All the sacrifices they make to let me live my dream and play the game I love doesn’t go unnoticed,” he says. He really appreciates all of the times that they’ve been there for him during his games, practices and everything in between.

“Carter is the type of player every coach wants on his team. He shows up everyday with a great attitude and willing to work. Only being a freshman, he has a lot of potential to be something special coming out of Davenport,” says Coach Grant Powell.

To Carter, being a great athlete means to be a team player, staying humble, always keep putting in the effort, learning from your mistakes, and never letting the negatives get you down. Sports have taught him discipline, how to have a good work ethic, and how to face adversity. When things get tough for Carter, he leans on his faith in God. His advice to his fellow athletes is to always keep working, don’t let other people control your actions, be a good teammate, to always be coachable, and to have fun!
