GIRLS
Coach: Michael Arnold
5-23
Cleveland will try to turn things around in 2023-24 under first-year head coach Michael Arnold. The Tigers are coming off a 5-23 record from a season ago. “This is my first year with the girls. We return three seniors from last year’s squad. Other than that, we are all sophomores and freshmen,” Arnold said. “We may be the youngest team in 4A girls’ basketball. Our season will be all about growing and maturing as a team and getting better every game while gaining floor experience.” Reagan Coffey (5-4, PG, Sr.) will direct Cleveland in her final season and is a VYPE Top 100 nominee. “Reagan is a super quick point guard.
She is an excellent 3-point shooter and 90 percent free throw shooter,” Arnold said. “She is extremely quick, a great all-around defender and has a tremendous basketball IQ. She was all Conference last year and she will be a contender for Tulsa 7 Conference MVP.” Emmy Southward (5-9, G, So.) has a high ceiling, according to Arnold, and will give Cleveland length on the perimeter and can play inside or out. Baylea Stiger is another senior who returns with some experience in the frontcourt. “She is a tremendous post player,” Arnold said. “She will lead us in rebounds and blocks. She is also a very capable scorer, and she has a chance to be an All-Conference player this year.” Sophomore Faith Watts (5-8, F) will help Stiger in the frontcourt. “Faith works hard, and she is always looking to get better,” Arnold said. “She volunteers for everything, and she is just an overall great teammate. She has a chance to be an awesome player.” Lillian Eaves (5-9, F) joins Coffey and Stiger as one of three seniors on Cleveland’s roster. Other sophomores include Emmy Southward (5-9, G), Bessie Sellars (5-5, G), Kinley Stiger (5-6, guard), Kelainey Hanna (5-7, F) and Clarr Chasteen (5-6, G).
Tycee Downey (5-8, guard), Kamdyn Harrold (5-5, guard), Stevie Gabriel (5-4, guard), Alyssa Kysar (5-3, guard) and Payge Schaefer (5-8, forward) are incoming freshmen for the Tigers.
