VYPE: What position do you play for Mannford and what is the strength of your game?
Carlee Maxville: I play centerfield. My biggest strength in this game is the amount of experience I have. Playing the game for 12 years has allowed me to gain lots of knowledge to help me take on the role of being a leader in the outfield. I’m working to improve on letting minor setbacks in the game affect my ability to continue to play with positivity.
VYPE: What’s been the biggest surprise this season?
CM: I think our biggest surprise this season was in our game against Harrah at the Hall of Fame tournament when we came back and won after being down by 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th. It showed that we have to keep fighting and playing hard even when we aren’t winning.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates?
CM: I love that we can have fun on and off the field. Whether it’s making jokes at practice or going out to eat together. We always find ways to grow closer outside of the game.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
CM: My dad is my biggest inspiration and supporter. He has showed me that you can achieve even your biggest dreams by working hard. He’s taught me that even when life isn’t fair or going your way you have to continue to stay happy and not let outside negativity influence you.
VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?
CM: My favorite subject in school is English, it’s what I’m best at. My favorite teacher is either my 8th Grade English teacher, Mrs. Spradlin or my sophomore math teacher, Mrs. Reed. Both were truly great and made being at school enjoyable!
VYPE: Tell us your favorite moment from the season.
CM: My favorite moment this season was in our senior night game against Berryhill when I hit a triple down the right field line in the bottom of the 1st inning to get the game going!
VYPE: What other clubs or groups to you belong to at school?
CM: I also participate in National Honor Society, Gifted & Talented, and Student Council.
VYPE: How do you enjoy spending your free time?
CM: I enjoy being with my friends in my free time. I also like to spend it fishing and hunting with my dad.
VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and who keeps everyone laughing?
CM: I think our most vocal teammate is Jayden Caruthers, she’s always starting cheers and yelling for us when we are on defense. The teammates that keep everyone laughing are Leksikae Coleman and Tinley Greenwood. They are always cracking jokes and adding a sense of lightheartedness to any situation!
