Mannford’s Pippin Gormley- Athlete Spotlight-Presented by Fields Land Company

Freshman distance runner Pippin Gormley is already building a reputation as a disciplined competitor and positive teammate as she begins her varsity career at Mannford High School.

Gormley, who will be in the ninth grade this fall, brings a strong middle school résumé to the program. She won the 2025 Tulsa 7 Conference Middle School Girls Cross Country meet and claimed first place in both the 800-meter and 1600-meter races at the Tulsa 7 Conference.

Her success on the course is rooted in a mindset shaped by family and faith. “My mom inspires me because she shows perseverance, faith, and strength every day,” Gormley said. “She has taught me to trust God, work hard, be kind, and always give 100% in everything I do.”

As she transitions to high school competition, Gormley emphasizes preparation and mental focus during races. “I am telling myself positive thoughts and thinking about my race strategy,” she said.

Gormley said one of the most rewarding aspects of competing is the camaraderie within the team. “What I enjoy most about being a member of the team is how we support and encourage each other,” she said. “I love having teammates that I can train with and also laugh with.”

Her passion for running extends beyond competition. She often trains at LaFortune Park in Tulsa, where she enjoys logging miles alongside friends. Outside of athletics, Gormley stays active with reading, basketball, golf and spending time with friends.

Balancing athletics and academics is a priority. Gormley has been involved in student leadership as president of Student Council and participates in Gifted and Talented programs. She also volunteers in the community. Though she said it is difficult to choose a favorite teacher, she credits her middle school educators for making learning enjoyable.

Through her experiences in athletics, Gormley has learned lessons that extend beyond the course. “That you have to show up even if you don’t feel like it with a good attitude,” she said.

She also values advice about maintaining proper nutrition to support her training, recognizing its impact on performance and recovery.

Gormley points to teammate Bella as a major influence. “Bella has left the biggest impression on me because of her work ethic and how she stays true to her faith,” she said.

Looking ahead, Gormley hopes to continue excelling both academically and athletically, with long-term aspirations of becoming a pilot. In the meantime, she is eager to experience high school life, including attending football games with friends, while continuing to grow as a runner and teammate.
