Mannford’s Jocee Putnam – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Stillwater Milling Co

There are many activities a student can join at area high schools, but for Mannford High School’s Jocee Putnam, her activities of choice are cheer and FFA.

Putnam said she joined FFA when she was in the eighth grade, three years ago.

“I’ve been surrounded by animals and ranches for my entire life,” Putnam said. “So, when the opportunity to join FFA came, I signed up as soon as I could! I feel like my mom encouraged me to join FFA the most just because she was the person who brought me into it and taught me about it.”

For Putnam there are many reasons why FFA was a great fit. Since becoming a member, Putnam said she has enjoyed meeting new people the most.

“I enjoy the friendships I have due to FFA the most and the relationships that have been built through my years in Mannford schools,” Putnam said. “I did just apply to be on our officer team! I also rodeo in my free time.”

As a member of the cheer team, Putnam said her teammates are her best friends.

“My teammates are some of my very best friends! I love how accepting they are of me. I am confident that I can walk in as I am, and they will treat me the same every time. There is no judgment on our team,” said Putnam.

The sophomore said her mother is the biggest influence in her life.

“My mom has taught me everything I know. It’s a cliche to say, but she taught me how to persevere through the rough patches of life,” said Putnam.

Putnam said life after high school will involve more learning for her future.

“I hope to go to Central Tech next year to expand my knowledge on medical careers. I am looking to go to OU for college and become a neonatal nurse and spend my days in the NICU,” said Putnam.
