Mannford’s Bella Gilbert – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Results Physical Therapy

For Mannford sophomore Bella Gilbert, competing is about much more than the final score. Whether she is on the softball diamond, basketball court, track or cross country course, Gilbert brings a mindset built on discipline, faith and a desire to keep improving.

A four-sport athlete, Gilbert has learned that success does not happen only during scheduled practices. She makes early-morning sports performance workouts part of her routine and is willing to sacrifice free time to pursue her athletic goals. Her motivation comes from her teammates, her hope of competing at the next level and her commitment to honoring God through the way she plays.

“Being successful in my sport has taken extra work outside of practice,” Gilbert said. “I get up early for sports performance workouts, I don’t give up when things get hard, and I make it a priority even when it means missing out on other things.”

Softball is a major part of Gilbert’s athletic journey, and one of her most memorable moments came during summer league competition when she hit back-to-back home runs. She also enjoys the challenge of district competition, especially when Mannford faces McLoud.

“I enjoy beating McLoud the most,” Gilbert said. “They are good competition and one of the top teams in our district.”

Gilbert credits former travel softball coach Joel Garcia with helping shape her development. Garcia challenged her physically and mentally while helping her grow her knowledge of the game. His belief in her ability continues to influence the athlete she is working to become.

“Joel Garcia has had a huge impact on my development as a player,” Gilbert said. “He challenged me mentally and physically and helped me greatly increase my softball IQ. He believed in my ability and inspired me to become the best athlete I could be.”

Competition also starts close to home. Gilbert enjoys practicing with talented teammate Cambri Casey, whose athletic ability pushes Gilbert to raise her own level. She also appreciates the freshmen who bring enthusiasm and encouragement to the Mannford program.

Away from athletics, Gilbert stays involved through leadership, Student Council, Gifted and Talented, and her role as class president. Managing those responsibilities requires planning, discipline and support from those around her.

When she wears Mannford across her uniform, Gilbert understands the responsibility that comes with it.

“When I play, representing my school and community means wearing our name with pride,” Gilbert said. “I compete hard, treat people with respect, and try to be a good teammate no matter what. People are watching, so I want to make them proud.”
