Mannford High School
Varsity football player and Mannford High School senior Alex Remington is an important
part of the football team. Remington is the starting center and nose guard for the Pirates.
Football is a sport Remington said he loves to play.
“I begged my mom ever since I was in elementary to play. My grade never had enough
players, so I had to wait. Finally in third grade she let me play with the fourth graders. I
played guard. Once I got into seventh grade, I played center. I haven’t stopped playing
center ever since. I’ve started varsity playing center for four years now. I have tried a few
other sports. I played basketball for a few years and tried wrestling two years ago,” said
Remington.
The senior said Mannford is a great place to be a student-athlete.
“Mannford has a great group of coaches that are 100 percent behind us every day. They
make sure we are reaching our full potential on and off the field. They also understand
when we have multiple activities going on and give us grace. It’s very much a family
atmosphere,” said Remington. “I enjoy the family atmosphere and being able to play every
Friday with my best friends.”
In the classroom, Remington said his favorite subject is math with Mrs. Lovell.
“Mrs. Lovell has been such a great mentor. She is there to help me whenever I get stuck on
any problem, whether it be in math or life,” said Remington.
Remington is a member of the FFA chapter as well.
“I belong to the Mannford FFA. I have showed livestock since I could walk. Once entering
FFA, I started my journey in leadership and speech. I am the president of our chapter this
year,” said Remington.
This season, Remington said his favorite moment so far came in a game against Cleveland.
“My favorite moment this season is helping drive a victory against Cleveland. It helped
show the potential our team has this season. I would keep an eye on Max Moore our QB and
the Rodriguez brothers. All three are dedicated sportsman and do well in their position.
They are also my brothers for life,” said Remington.
Remington said he wants the Class of 2024 to be remembered as the team that changed
Mannford football.
