MANNFORD PIRATES
BOYS
Coach: Mike Banfield
22-23 Record: 15-11
Mannford will have a different look going into the 2023-24 season under head coach Mike Banfield, who will be in his 13th year as head coach after guiding the Pirates to a 15-11 mark a year ago. Banfield liked the progress his unit made over the summer. “We will be young and inexperienced this season. We lost four senior starters,” Banfield said. “We have some kids that can play though, they just need some seasoning. We should be a team that gets better as the season goes on. We had a solid summer and got better as the summer went on.” The one returning starter is 5-foot-10 junior guard Mason Harvey. Harvey averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds as a sophomore. “I expect [Mason] to have a breakthrough season this year,” Banfield said. Kaleb Kindley, a 6-foot-4 forward, is the lone senior on the
roster. Kindley averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds last season. “He played a lot of minutes last season and had a good summer,” Banfield said. “He’s a 6-4 kid that can cause matchup problems because he can play inside and outside.” Others who will contribute for the Pirates at the guard positions are Jaiden Egger (5-8, Jr.), Spencer Norman (6-1, Jr.), Hank Shasteen (5-11, Jr.), Logan Bynum (6-1, Fr.), Boone Hodson (5-10, Jr.), Brayden Rodriguez (5-8, So.), Ryan Owens (5-11, Jr.), Adam Mendenhall (6-1, Jr.) and Jerrett Robinson (6-1, So.). Taven Fentress (6-3, Jr.), Max Moore (6-2, So.), Cooper Ausbern (6-1, So.) and Ayden Evans (6-0, So.) will see time in the frontcourt.
