2023 Mannford Lady Pirates Basketball Preview – Presented by Results Physical Therapy

GIRLS

Coach: Nathan Reed

22-23 Record: 22-4

Mannford returns three starters, including VYPE Top 100 nominee Isabella Pehrson, from a team that went 22-4 last season under head coach Nathan Reed, who will be in year three under the helm. “Our team is looking to have another successful season this year. We will be competitive night in and night out,” Reed said. “It is very fun as a coach to have a group of girls that are not only talented, but work really hard to achieve goals they have set. We are super excited about this season.” Pehrson, a 6-foot senior guard/forward, averaged just over 16 points per game last season. Adalynn Tierney (5-7, G) and Josie Lewis (6-0, F) join Pehrson as seniors who will make impacts. Tierney averaged 9.0 points a year ago, while Lewis averaged 5.0 points. “Josie has been putting in a tremendous amount of work this summer to better her game. She will hold down the paint for us this year and is a huge presence on the glass for our team,”

Reed said. Reed will be looking for incoming freshman Addison Pehrson, the younger sister of Isabella, to play a key part this season. “A lot is expected of Addison and she will be ready. A great piece to our team and she is willing to do whatever is asked of her. Great team player,” Reed said. Brooklyn Ballard, Abbie Hemphill, and Anna Dostal are others who will be expected to contribute. Ballard spent a majority of her first two years unable to play because of injury. “As a freshman, she had a chronic foot injury that lingered, which had her in and out of a boot and required two surgeries in a year and a half,” Reed said. “She, along with her team, is excited to be healthy and show what she can do.”
