
Q&A with Kellyville’s Aidan Cargill
VYPE: What year are you, and what position do you play?
Aidan Cargill: I will be a senior and I play center field.
VYPE: Do you play any other sports? Are you involved with any other activities?
AC: Yes, I also do basketball and track.
VYPE: How did you start playing softball? How old were you?
AC: I started out playing T-Ball and I was the only girl on a team of boys, and I was 4. . . I played with my cousin, Gavin Cargil.
VYPE: How did the experience of playing tee ball with the boys help you?
AC: They told me that I was the fastest on the team, but I think it made me better. . . Definitely made me stronger.
VYPE: What are some things you’ve had to work on a lot through the years?
AC: Attitude and learning how to play different spots on the field.
VYPE: What do you think you’re best at?
AC: I think I’m best in the outfield.
VYPE: Do you consider yourself a competitive person?
AC: Yes.
VYPE: Where or from who do you think you acquired that trait?
AC: I have two older brothers, so I think that makes me more competitive.
VYPE: Talk about a time you faced a significant challenge in your athletic career?
AC: My anger and not letting myself get frustrated at the game.
VYPE: When was that a significant problem?
AC: During districts. . . Just getting really mad for not doing good when I know I could do better.
VYPE: After that experience, what changed, and why?
AC: I’m a senior now, and people will be looking up to me so I have to have a good attitude towards everything.
VYPE: What type of leader do you aspire to be?
AC: One that people could come to about things.
VYPE: Who’s a teammate, past or present that has had a great impact on your life? Why?
AC: There’s two either Hailey Dye or Antonia McGuire. They are very passionate about their sport.
VYPE: What are your goals in softball?
AC: Just to keep getting better at the sport.
