Kellyville’s Wade and Kallie Martin – Presented by Hotshots Healthcare

Wade & Kallie Martin

Kellyville High School

Siblings Wade Martin and Kallie Martin attend school at Kellyville High School and are both student-athletes for the Ponies. Wade is a senior this year and a pole vaulter for the track team while Kallie is a freshman on the softball, basketball, and track teams. Both said being a student-athlete at KHS is something they enjoy for many reasons.

“I really enjoy the workload, as it’s not too overwhelming and just right in terms of being challenging,” Wade said. Kallie had similar reasons. “I enjoy having a team around me that always has my back, teachers that are understanding of time, and just an all-around community of great people.”

It’s normal for a sibling rivalry to exist, but for the Martin’s, the rivalry has turned into mutual respect for one another and the hope for success on and off the field.

“There is not a rivalry anymore, when we were younger, we definitely butted heads, but now I only want to see him succeed,” Kallie explained. “When we were kids, but honestly it’s all love now and I love seeing Kallie succeed and doing what I couldn’t at her age,” said Wade.

Both student-athletes love being around their teammates. Wade said the support from his teammates is unmatched, while Kallie said she has made some of his best friends through sport.

“I love that my teammates really adapt to my personality and can always help me. I’ve made some of the best friendships from KV sports,” said Kallie. “I love my teammates because we’re all really supportive of one another and pole vault is a very challenging yet rewarding experience,” said Wade.

Both Wade and Kallie are involved in other activities which keep them busy. Wade is a member of BETA, Student Council, and FCA, while Kallie also participates in Student Council along with a leadership group ran by Kellyville Community away from school.

This spring the brother and sister are looking forward to competing and representing Kellyville in competition together.

“I’m looking forward to the state competition, and I’m ready to try and take it home for my final year,” said Wade. “I’m looking forward to playing softball with my team, school and competitive. The weather getting warmer, vacations coming around, and hopefully state in basketball,” said Kallie.

Wade said of Kallie, “I think I admire her drive to win. She will stop at nothing until she wins at least part of a competition and I really think that’s awesome. When Kallie was asked about what she admired about her brother, the freshman said, “I admire Wade for always sticking with his dream, having my back in any circumstances, being a role model to look up to in his Christianity, and always striving to be his best.” Wade said he would like to attend school after he graduates and become a commercial pilot, while Kallie would like to play softball in college and study sports medicine. Both point to their faith and their family as sources of strength and inspiration.
