Kellyville’s Taylor Todd – Coach Spotlight -Presented by Kellyville Booster Club

Coaching is a special profession that gives someone the opportunity that not everyone can have. Not only are they able to be around the sport that they enjoy, but they are also able to share their love for the sport to the next generation and help them become better athletes and people.

Taylor Todd is the head coach of the Kellyville girls basketball team. She also coaches the fastpitch and slowpitch softball teams. Her decision to become a coach was an easy one, especially with the first hand experience she had growing up.

“When I was a kid, my dad was always my coach,” she said. “So I got to see the impact he had on the athletes and the joy he had from coaching. My dad has also impacted my coaching career. It is always fun to hear how much like him I am when I am coaching. And having someone to talk to about coaching makes the difficult times easier. Also, Coach Nance has always encouraged me to be the best and whatever I’m involved in and he always shows so much passion for Kellyville.”

Throughout her career as a coach, Todd has made a lot of great memories with her teams. But she says that out of all of them, there is one that stands out as her favorite.

“I think the highlight of my coaching career would have to be winning a state championship in slowpitch softball my first year of coaching,” she recalled. “It was great for our school and our community and it was a really great experience.”

Coaching is in her blood and is something that she really loves doing. But Taylor says that while she enjoys teaching athletes about sports and how to improve their skills, there is something else about coaching that really means something to her.

“I think my favorite thing about being a coach is the ability to influence young athletes before they head out into the world.”
