Cushing’s Macy Griffith – Presented by AFR Insurance

Macy Griffith is a multisport athlete for the Cushing High School Tigers. Macy plays both fastpitch and slow-pitch softball, plays basketball, and runs track. She is a pitcher and first baseman in both fast and slow pitch, a guard in basketball, and runs distance races in track. A veteran at sports, Macy has played basketball since 4th grade, softball since she was about 5, and has run track since the seventh grade.

Macy enjoys representing her school and community in sports. Macy elated, “It means the world to me. I love having the opportunity to represent my school and community and having their support. My absolute favorite is youth night because not very long ago, I was one of those little girls watching the high schooler play, and I was looking up to them. So, I hope I can be a similar role model for them like those girls were for me.”

As for what it has taken Macy to be successful in sports, Macy stated, “It has taken a lot of time and dedication, and a willingness to put time and work in by myself- whether that is going out and running on my own or pitching into a net- that work ethic is essential for all athletes.”

Some of the best memories in high school are made while playing high school sports. Macy recalled her favorite memory thus far. “The most memorable highlight moment that comes to mind in my career so far, is when I pitched a nine-inning game against Mannford, at their home field, and we beat them in extra innings 3-2.”

In addition to sports, Macy participates in other extracurricular activities. Macy accounted, “Outside of sports I am also pretty heavily involved with our school drama program, as well as our academic (or quiz bowl) team, who actually went to state this year. I am also a school mascot.”

After graduating from high school, Macy intends to pursue higher education. Macy explained, “I plan to go to college at Oklahoma State University, and get a degree in aerospace engineering, and pursue a career in that.”
