Cushing’s Brooklyn Williams – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Cushing Primary Care

Brooklyn Williams, a junior at Cushing High School, is a dedicated student-athlete who brings passion, purpose, and perseverance to the softball field. Playing right field, left field, and catcher, Brooklyn has found her home on the diamond, where she continues to grow both as an athlete and as a person.

“What motivates me is knowing that every time I take the field, it’s a new opportunity to challenge myself and grow closer to my teammates,” Brooklyn says. “And remembering that God has a plan for each and every one of us.”

Her biggest role models are her parents, teammates, and coaches, especially Coach York and Coach E. “They’ve pushed, guided, and challenged me to be the best version of myself,” she explains. “Not only as a player, but also as a student and person.” One teacher who left a lasting impact is her 8th grade reading teacher, Mrs. Sharon Sissom, who helped Brooklyn build confidence and was always a supportive presence in every part of her life.

Success hasn’t come easy. It has taken “early morning practices, late nights, and self-discipline,” she shares. “Coach York once told me, One bad game doesn’t define you. That’s stuck with me. I learn from my mistakes and push forward.”

One of Brooklyn’s proudest moments came after returning from a knee injury, when she hit a double that brought in three RBIs, helping Cushing beat McLoud 20–16. She loves the challenge of playing tough teams like Davenport and says practice is all about team energy: “We feed off each other and push to be better.”

While not involved in campus clubs, Brooklyn says, “The field is where my heart is.” She admires Paige Bueckers for her authenticity and faith, and she applies that same mindset by balancing school and softball with discipline, late-night study sessions, and gratitude.

“To wear the Cushing Lady Tiger uniform means everything to me,” Brooklyn says. After high school, she plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy, continuing her commitment to helping others grow stronger, just as she has.
