2024 Drumright Tornadoes Football Preview – Presented by Cushing Family Practice

DRUMRIGHT TORNADOES

Coach: CHRIS ELERICK

12-1

OFFENSE

After a memorable run in 2023, the Tornadoes of Drumright are back and head coach Chris Elerick is looking to replace a group of seniors that took the Tornadoes to the quarterfinals of Class B last season. “Looking forward to seeing who steps up and takes the reigns at multiple positions. Summer is off to a great start and the community is excited headed into 2024,” said Elerick. Competition at QB continues, but one position the team is excited to shore up in the offensive line. Tanner Willing (6-1, 265, Sr.) will start at center with Cody Gregory (5-9, 180, Jr.) playing guard. A pair of tight ends are poised for big years. Owen Gray (6-3, 235, Sr.) and Chase Creekmore (5-11, 225, So.) are both solid blockers and figure in the passing game. Gray is a VYPE Top 100 selectee who plays a physical brand of football. Look for Drumright to run multiple formations and rely heavily on the run game with a pair of quality running backs. Garrett Collins (6-1, 160, Sr.) and Gavin Brimmer (5-10, 155, Sr.) are a nice one-two punch for the offense. Collins is on the cusp of having a breakout season after a tremendous offseason.

DEFENSE

Defensive coordinator Jody Boyd wants his defense to play fast and physical. Gray will be a big part of that effort. Last season Gray had 74 tackles, six sacks, and three fumble recoveries. Another physical player to watch is Willing at nose guard. Willing grabbed 58 tackles, four sacks, and two fumble recoveries and is a serious problem for opposing QBs. Creekmore will play opposite Gray at end. As a freshman, Creekmore made 42 tackles. Jagger Willing (5-10, 160, Jr.) made 28 tackles as a sophomore last season and will likely see those numbers rise this year. Collins and Brimmer will start in the secondary. Both players had 18 tackles and Collins added two INTs. The coaching staff consists of Moses Williams (OL/DL), Scott Hollabaugh (RB/LB), and Damien Gonzales (TE/DB).
