VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Maddox: I am a junior at Chandler High School. I am on the baseball, football, and powerlifting teams.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
Maddox: Mental toughness and how to deal with failure, but also leadership skills.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Maddox: That’s a tough one, but I would have to say Chaden Sullivan. We played/competed for the same position and really pushed each other. He was a great role model as well.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?
Maddox: Texas Rangers pitcher Jon Gray. He’s a Chandler guy that my dad actually coached in high school. I got to grow up watching him play, so I’ve seen firsthand the work he’s put in to make his dream come true.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Maddox: My dad. He is the hardest worker I know and he helps me become not only the best player I can be, but the best person I can be too.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Maddox: My fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Rusk. She was the kindest person who always made learning fun. You always felt important in her class.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Maddox: Nothing comes easy. If you want it, you have to work for it.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Maddox: Steak
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Maddox: Somewhere on a beach with family & friends.
