Chandler’s Peyton Floyd – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by AFR Thompson’s Insurance Agency

Skills gained through athletics go beyond the court or the field. Respecting your opponent, responsibility and self-discipline are all skills Peyton Floyd credits to playing basketball and baseball.

Peyton is a senior at Chandler High School. His desire to perform athletically pushes him to maintain high standards in the classroom. “Playing sports definitely helps my GPA because I want to make sure I do good in school,” says Peyton.

High academic standards run in the family. Peyton laughed saying his favorite teacher had to be his seventh grade English teacher. “My mom was the teacher that year!”

Peyton’s favorite part of playing sports is spending time with his teammates. When asked what teammate left the biggest impression, he cannot pick just one. “I love all my guys and I can’t say just one. These guys are family. They all have had a huge impact on my life, and I look up to all of them in different ways,” he said.

Peyton is most inspired by his dad. “My dad has always been there for me anytime I needed anything. He may be tough on me every once in a while, but that’s the reason I am who I am today.”

Inspiration in the professional world comes from NBA player Boban Marjanović. “He is such a good guy on and off the court,” said Peyton.

His best memory of the game happened recently. “We were playing a ranked squad when our point guard, Jordan Denson, hit a game winning shot to put us in the championship of the Ripley tournament. I am excited for what we can do this year. It gives me such a rush to go out there and play to the best of my ability,” he said.

Peyton wants to thank all his teammates, coaches, fans, and family. He says these are the people have always had his back and supported him.
