Chandler High School sophomore Peyton Arms is already making an impact on the varsity football field, bringing intensity, discipline and a strong sense of purpose to his role as a linebacker.
Arms, who will enter 10th grade this fall, credits much of his drive to his father, a former state champion at Chandler. “My father inspires me a lot,” Arms said. “He won state at Chandler and pushes me to be better.” That influence has helped shape Arms’ mindset both on and off the field, where he embraces the idea that consistent effort leads to success.
As a linebacker, Arms understands the responsibility that comes with the position. He said the most challenging part is reading the defense and communicating effectively with teammates. Despite the difficulty, he thrives in the leadership aspect and values the unity within the team. “I love that we all have a bond and there is no hate toward anyone,” he said.
One of Arms’ most memorable moments came during his freshman season when he stripped the ball from a Clinton player on a kickoff, a play that helped set the tone for his year. He also recalls the energy of a playoff matchup against Kiefer as one of the most intense environments he has experienced.
Off the field, Arms enjoys spending time with friends, watching college football and giving back to the community. He stays involved in youth football programs, helping with little league teams alongside his father, who serves as president.
In the classroom, Arms favors math and credits Coach Blankenship as his favorite teacher. His pregame routine reflects his focus, as he listens to music and reflects on his journey and motivations.
Arms said his teammate Josiah Tillis has had a significant impact on his life, providing support and encouragement. With a strong support system and a clear sense of purpose, Arms continues to grow as both an athlete and a student, determined to build on his early success.
