VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Mia: I started when I was six years old. My mom got me involved by suggesting I joined a youth basketball league.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Mia: Basketball has taught me leadership skills and the importance of having confidence, on and off the court.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Mia: My favorite thing about being a part of our team is the atmosphere on game days. It’s always a restless and ecstatic feeling on Tuesday and Friday nights.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Mia: I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the influence and guidance from our seniors in the 2022 class. They left a positive impression, and not only made it feel like a team, but a family.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Mia: My inspiration would have to my dad, Josh Floyd. He’s never backed down from anything before, and has always encouraged me to try my hardest.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Mia: My passion and love for basketball comes from being drawn to the competitive nature of the sport.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?
Mia: Easily Paige Bueckers. We play different positions, but I love her game and have enjoyed watching her play since she committed to Uconn.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Mia: The best advice I have ever received is this, “Expect nothing, appreciate everything”.
VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?
Mia: I am involved with my school, serving as the class Vice President. Not only that, but I’m a part of Powerlifting, Softball, Positive Peers, the National Honor Society Vice President, PSI (Postponing Sexual Involvement), Lions Club, Chandler’s Rotary Club, and Bank First’s Student Board.
