Chandler’s Landon Earp – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Arrow Wrecker Service

In the world of wrestling, every match is a test of endurance, discipline, and heart — and Chandler senior Landon Earp is built for the challenge. “My personal goal for this season is to be a state champion and wrestle to the best of my ability,” he said. With a career record of 106-38 at 120 pounds, Earp has proven himself as one of the premier competitors in Oklahoma’s high school wrestling scene.

Earp said that the 2024-25 season feels different — a sense of unity and hunger has taken hold in the Chandler wrestling room. “The team morale has been strong this season,” he said. “Everyone in the room has been very supportive, pushing each other to get better and stay motivated, and coach Franklin Ward put on a movie night for our team for team bonding and moral building.”

That motivation shows in how the team approaches its daily grind. “Everyone has been working much harder because they all want it as bad as I do,” Earp said. “When everyone’s goals are in line, we push each other to improve.”

Chandler’s team goal this year is ambitious, but Earp believes it’s within reach. “A team goal this year is to make it to dual state,” he said. “We have all wanted to go, and this is our best chance in the past 10 years. We are all going to work as hard as we can in the room to hit this goal.”

When it comes to competition, Earp’s preparation is methodical. “I look to see for weak spots in their wrestling, so my game plan includes exposing those areas,” he explained. “I prepare myself physically by staying consistent to my training. I push myself in the conditioning drills and lift to build my strength and make sure I am keeping my cardio up. I also pay attention to my recovery: eating right, staying hydrated, and making sure to get enough rest.”

His mindset is sharp and focused. “When I step on the mat, I need to wrestle to win, not to not lose,” he said. “Also to stick to my game plan.”

Earp hopes his impact extends beyond his own achievements. “I want my legacy at Chandler to be that I worked hard every day, pushed my teammates to be better, and left the wrestling program stronger than when I found it.”

And when it’s time to lock in before a match? “My go-to hype song is “Can’t Stop” by the Red-Hot Chili Peppers,” Earp said.
