Chandler’s Landon Earp – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by AFR Thompson’s Insurance Agency

There is a drive in every athlete that keeps them working hard and trying to improve their skills. No matter the sport they compete in, it takes a lot of work to be ready. Landon Earp says that he keeps himself focused on what he is trying to achieve.
“The thing that motivates me is that I love completion and putting in work to achieve my goals,” Landon said. “My main goal is to be a good human being and also, I want to wrestle in college and be number one.”

Earp is a sophomore at Chandler High School, where he is a member of the wrestling and baseball teams. He has enjoyed sports for a majority of his life and he says that if you want to be your best, you cannot take a day off.

“I started at a young age working to learn both sports,” he said. “I found out early that extra work is key to success. Outside normal practices I work out at home and other local wrestling rooms to get extra work in.  Early on I learned that when things get hard it’s easy to quit but by pushing through the adversity the outcome from my training was much better. So during wrestling season my schedule is full with school work and wrestling every day of the week.”

Throughout his career, Earp has seen the hard work and dedication pay off. One of those times is one of his favorite memories.
“I think the highlight moment of my career would have to be when I made it to the state tournament and placed as a freshman,” he recalled. “It was a great experience and feeling.”

Whenever he competes, Landon remembers that he is doing it for more than just himself.

“In a small town you have lots of support from the school and community so when I compete on and off the mat, I know I am representing Chandler to my fullest ability,” he said. “I enjoy seeing my name at the top but also enjoy seeing my school name at the top just as much.”
