Chandlers Coniah Ritchie – Football Spotlight – Presented by Thompson Insurance Agency

For Coniah Ritchie, football is more than just a sport; it’s a chance to lead, inspire, and represent his hometown of Chandler with pride. A senior linebacker for the Lions, Ritchie takes the field with a clear purpose.

“My biggest motivation is to give my little brothers something to look up to,” he said. “I want to show them what hard work and dedication can do.”

Ritchie credits much of his growth both on and off the field to Coach Perry, who has gone beyond the role of a coach. “He’s not just a coach but a man of God, and he’s helped me be more of a man and grow closer to God,” Ritchie shared. That guidance has helped shape his approach to life and sports, teaching him the importance of perseverance and faith.

For Ritchie, success doesn’t come from talent alone, it comes from effort and consistency. “Work hard every day, even if you’re tired, that’s what gets you to success,” he explained. It’s a mindset he carries into every practice and every game, knowing that the work he puts in now will pay off under the Friday night lights.

When it comes to rivalries, one matchup stands above the rest. “My favorite opponent to beat is Stroud because it’s our rival team, and having the game trophy in our hands is the best feeling,” Ritchie said. Victories in those moments mean more, not only to him but to the entire Chandler community.

Representing his school is something Ritchie takes seriously. Every time he steps on the field, he knows he’s carrying more than just his own name. “Representing Chandler when I play is showing other teams and schools we might be small, but we ain’t afraid to hit,” he said.

As he finishes out his senior year, Ritchie continues to set an example for his younger brothers, his teammates, and the community that has supported him. With his leadership, dedication, and drive, he leaves behind a legacy that future Chandler athletes can look up to, just as his little brothers already do.
