9 Questions with Chandlers Elli Hilgenfeld – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Thompson’s Insurance Agency

VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sports do you play?

Elli: I am a sophomore at Chandler High School. I am on the softball, basketball, track, and pom teams.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Elli: My favorite part about being a Chandler Lion is being a role model for little kids and hopefully having an impact on somebody’s life.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Elli: I can’t pick just one. My fifth-grade and now my sophomore English teacher is Mrs. Berry. She’s always encouraging, fun, understanding, and many more things. Also, my seventh and eighth-grade math teacher and softball coach, Coach B. He’s very supportive and has taught me many things.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Elli: My mom. She’s my biggest supporter, and she’s the hardest worker I know. I will forever look up to her.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Elli: Hadlee Massengale. She was a senior when I was a freshman, and she left a big impact on the person I am today. She always encouraged and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Elli: A piece of advice that has stuck with me is something my dad said when I was younger, and still to this day, “people don’t remember what you say, but how you made them feel.”

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Elli: My shout-out goes to my big sister, Cali. She is my best friend and supports me in anything I do. I truly believe she shaped me into the person I am today. She will never know how much I love and look up to her!

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go and who do you take with you?

Elli: I would love to go to Hawaii, and I’d take my sister and my cousin Halle.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?

Elli: Jayda Coleman, one of OU’s recent center fielders. I love watching her because you can see her drive for the sport, the amount of love she has for Jesus, and how much she cares about the people around her.
