There can be many people that impact the lives of high school athletes. Whether it is a professional or college athlete or someone a little closer to home, the influence these people can have can be immeasurable. Hayden Haulcomb is an athlete at Bristow High School and there are a couple of people that have played an important role in her career.
“My biggest role model is my mom,” Hayden said. “She is the strongest woman I know and has been there to support me no matter what. I would also like to mention my coach Garrett Hannah. He has made such an impact on our team and me in the short amount of time he has had with us. He has not only taught me to be a better player on the field but an even better person off the field.”
Haulcomb is in her senior year at Bristow, where she plays softball and is a member of the powerlifting team. Wearing her school uniform is something that she does not take lightly.
“To represent your school and community when you play means to not only want to play well, but to also act right to show your school is a good place,” she said. “You are a reflection of the uniform you wear.”
Teachers have also played a role in who Hayden is as a person. Out of all the ones she has learned from, she has one that stands out as her favorite.
“The teacher that has made the biggest impact on me is Tammy Capps,” Hayden said. “She has treated me like a kid of her own since I met her.”
There have been many memories that Haulcomb has made on the field with her teammates. For her, there are a couple that stand out as her top moments.
“Seeing the excitement on all of my teammates’ faces when we won regionals to go to state, that has been the highlight of my career so far,” she said. “Also, I enjoyed beating Kiefer last year, mainly because it is such a high energy environment on both sides of the field.”
