Kellyville’s Easton Nance – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Kellyville Booster Club

Athletes put in a lot of time and effort in order to be at their best when competition time rolls around. Along with all that hard work, it also helps to have a strong support system there to encourage you and help you stay focused. Easton Nance is a junior at Kellyville High School and he has an outstanding group in his corner.
“My parents are my biggest role models,” he said. “My dad is a former college baseball player and is currently the Kellyville Athletic Director. My mom is a vice president at Saint Francis hospital. They show me how never giving up is the best way to accomplish your goals. Another is Coach Shawn Thornbrue, who has coached me in all three of my sports. No matter how down I am on myself he is always there to tell me what needs to get done.”

Nance competes in baseball, basketball, and cross country. Outside of athletics, he is also a member of the academic team, Beta, and serves as a student officer.
Nance says that being a representative for his school and community when he competes is not something that he takes lightly.

“It means the world to me to play for Kellyville,” he said. “When the name is on my chest, I have something to work for, and something to show to the world. I want to show to the world that Kellyville is the place to be.”

Seeing his hard work payoff is something that is really special to Easton. He says that it is a sign that you are doing things right.

“So far the highlight of my career is winning a Cross Country state academic championship,” he said. “It shows your accomplishments on and off the field.”

When he and his teammates step out to compete, Nance says that there is one opponent that he always wants to beat and it never changes.
“The opponent I love beating the most isn’t any other team or player, but I love beating the expectations of others.”
