Cleveland’s Samuel Sizemore-Athlete Spotlight-Presented by Blue Sky Bank

Cleveland High School sophomore Samuel Sizemore is carving out his role as a dependable wide receiver while embracing the values that shape both his game and his character.

Sizemore draws inspiration from a mix of athletic excellence and personal faith. He studies Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua, admiring his attention to detail and physical style of play. “He’s not the fastest receiver, but he works hard on his craft and does the little things right,” Sizemore said. He also looks up to former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow for his example as a Christian athlete, adding that his faith is central to everything he does.

“Jesus is the sole of my beliefs, so everything I do, I try to do through Him,” he said.

On the field, Sizemore primarily lines up at wide receiver, where endurance and effort are key. He said the most challenging aspect of the position comes during high-tempo stretches. “You have to run a bunch of routes or block at full effort with no rest,” he said.

Despite the demands, Sizemore thrives on the team environment. He values the bond between players and coaches and enjoys the shared goal of improving together. “Coming together and working hard so we can achieve our goals” is what he appreciates most about being part of the program.

One of his favorite football memories came in a tightly contested game when he secured a game-sealing interception. He also recalled a standout moment from a teammate, when Jaden Wynn returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown last season.

Off the field, Sizemore stays active through multiple sports and youth ministry while also enjoying time with family and board games. In the classroom, he favors Honors English and credits former teacher Mrs. Thornton as a lasting influence.

Looking ahead, Sizemore said athletics continue to teach him consistency and resilience. “When the going gets tough, that’s when you need to show up the most,” he said.
