Bristow’s Tayt Jackson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Run Stop Bristow

Tayt Jackson, a senior at Bristow High School, has been playing basketball for as long as he can remember. He grew up watching Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook play, saying that their passion for the game inspired him.

“My role model is Kevin Durant,” said Jackson. “I’ve studied his game since he played for OKC and I admire his skill, work ethic, and mentality on and off the court.”

While he may look up to professional players for inspiration on the court, his desire to strive for the best comes from closer to his heart.

“My biggest motivation is my mom,” said Jackson. “She pushes me every day to be the best version of myself.”

Jackson will be a returning starter for the Pirates after averaging 14.7 points per game last season. Like many Bristow athletes might say, he looks forward to playing the Cushing Tigers.

“They’re our rivals, and it’s always a fun, competitive game whenever we play them,” he said.

Looking back, one of Jackson’s favorite moments was hitting a game-winning shot against Hilldale. He will have lots of opportunities to step up and lead this year as well.

“Tayton is an outstanding scorer and a highly skilled shooter, demonstrating remarkable ball-handling abilities,” said head coach Brian Hopgood. “His athleticism and versatility on the court make him a compelling college prospect this year.”

Before a game, you’ll probably find Jackson eating candy and listening to music for a boost. On and off the court, Jackson values his teammates.

“My teammates mean family to me,” he said. “We’ve built a strong bond together.”

Jackson’s favorite subject in school is English with Mrs.Howell. After high school, he plans to continue playing basketball and study business in college.
