Softball season may be over, but student-athletes like Cambri Casey are turning their focus to the coming track season, just a few short weeks away.
Speaking of softball, Casey said she loves being around her teammates and competing with them at a high level.
“Everyone plays together which makes it much more fun,” Casey said.
The junior pitcher she’s inspired by another player who calls the circle home.
“Jordy Bahl inspires me because she has proven that pitchers do not have to have good size,” Casey said.
Her favorite moment on the diamond and biggest surprise during her career go hand-in-hand.
“The biggest surprise of my career was seeing tons of college coaches in the stands,” said Casey. “My favorite moment from any season was winning the 2021 Little League Softball World Series.”
Casey said several of her teammates have left an impression on her include those who are more vocal and the ones who keep everyone laughing and loose.
“The most vocal teammate is probably Jayden Caruthers and Tinley Greenwood keeps everyone laughing,” Casey said.
Her favorite subject in school is science and her favorite teacher was Mrs. Spradlin from her eighth grade English class. In her free time, Casey said she loves to watch Netflix or go shopping. Her plans for life after high school include going to college where she will continue her softball career.
“After I graduate, I would like to have a standout freshman season at Wichita State University,” Casey said.
