Ethan Rich will be a senior at Prague High School where he is a member of the varsity baseball team and the FFA chapter.
“My freshman and sophomore year I played football and baseball but this past year I
decided to focus just on baseball which had always been my true passion,” said Rich.
Baseball and FFA are not the only activities Rich is involved in at Prague High School.
“I am on student council and a member of National Honor Society, Youth for Christ and the Fellowship for Christian Athletes,” said Rich.
Rich was in middle school when he first joined the FFA. From the beginning he knew this was the right place for him.
“I knew about the FFA since I was young through my sisters being heavily involved in it. I enjoy getting to compete in contests where you practice future career skills that directly relate agriculture,” said Rich.
As a member of the FFA chapter, Rich competes in Ag sales, livestock judging, cattle
grading, Ag mechanics, public speaking, sporting clays and trap shooting. Rich also enjoys showing cattle. Rich has served as a chapter officer for three years in a row.
“I have shown Maine Anjou heifers and steers in the past and am currently showing
Hereford heifers,” said Rich.
Rich said his father has been a big influence in his life, from FFA to sports.
“My dad has always been a big influence in my life especially in agriculture and baseball. He always has helped me get a calf ready to show and he was also my coach growing up in baseball, football and basketball, he has really shown me and taught how to be a good Christian man,” said Rich.
As for playing on the baseball team and what the future holds for this senior, Rich said he’s excited to start his final year of high school and start his college career.
“I am fortunate enough to be part of a team that is invested in being successful and we work for each other to be as successful as possible,” said Rich. “I am going into my senior year and after I graduate, I plan to attend Oklahoma State University to major in Ag Business.”
