There is someone in each of our lives that is an influence on us and helps us grow as a person. This could be a family member, a friend, or someone else, but the impact that they have can be immeasurable. For Landon Earp, there are a few people that fit that bill.
“My parents have made a big impact on me because they are the ones who help me through everything,” Earp said. “Also, my third grade teacher has been because she said that I can do anything I put my heart to.”
Landon is a junior at Chandler High School, where he is a member of the baseball and wrestling teams. Being able to compete for his school is something that Earp does not take lightly.
“Representing my school means inspiring others to strive for excellence and to be proud of their school, creating a positive and motivating environment while upholding school and community values,” he said.
Throughout his career, Landon has had a number of teammates that he has worked with to become a better athlete. And he has seen the fruits of all his hard work.
“The teammate that has had the biggest impact on me would be my practice partner Derick Perkins,” he said. “He pushes me in practice and I push him so we can both get better. I think the highlight moment for me would be when I won Regionals and then ended up placing fourth at state this year. Another would be when I passed one hundred varsity wins this season.”
Being an outstanding athlete is only possible when you keep your grades up and get your school work completed. Landon says that you need to have your priorities straight in order to accomplish this.
“You have to put as much work into your school work as you do for your sports,” he said. “After a long training you want to put off school but you must invest the effort.”
