Cushing’s Wyatt Heisler – Presented by Cushing Ortho

Throughout their career, an athlete invests time and effort into reaching their highest potential. The physical work is important, but Wyatt Heisler says that there are other areas that are just as vital.

“Mental toughness is one of the most important aspects of baseball,” he said. “It has helped me be a more productive ball player. Developing my craft outside of baseball practice has also been a leading part to my success. What motivates me on a day to day basis is being able to get better and having the opportunity to grow as a teammate.”

Wyatt is a senior at Cushing High School where he is part of the football and baseball teams. Outside of sports, he is also involved in the National Honor Society.

There have been people in Heisler’s life that have shaped him into the person that he is today.

“My biggest role models are my parents,” Wyatt said. “They are always there for me when I need it most. The teacher that has inspired me is Garrett Rockwell. He has always been there for me whether it’s coaching or other things, he’s always there.”

As he reflects back onto his time playing at Cushing, Wyatt has made a lot of great memories. But for him, there are a couple that stand out.

“I think the highlight of my career was beating Stigler to go to state my junior year,” he recalled. “Seeing all of our hard work pay off was amazing. Another would be anytime we beat Perkins. It is a big rivalry and it is always fun to come out on top.”

The teammates that he competes alongside are a group that Heisler is thankful for. He enjoys the camaraderie that they share.
“My favorite teammate to compete with is Wyatt Delong,” he said. “We share the same name so it’s always a competition to see who’s the better Wyatt. I think the least appreciated player on our team is Mason Ferguson. He is a great teammate and a fun person to be around. He has grown into a baseball player and it is awesome to see.”
