Brooke Kyser & Mannford Basketball – Presented by RibCrib

As the Lady Pirates roll through January with six big wins, including a 60-57 win in overtime over Skiatook, players like Brooke Kyser are finding their groove.

Now a sophomore, Kyser started playing basketball when she was in the sixth grade. We caught up to the guard to find out more about her and her teammates.

VYPE: Brooke, what is your favorite subject in school?

Brooke Kyser: I like science.

VYPE: What’s been your favorite moments as a student-athlete at MHS?
BK: Playing Regionals in Broken Bow for softball this year and the Vinita team basketball camp over the summer.

VYPE: What do you love most about being a student at MHS?
BK: I’m surrounded by my friends

VYPE: Have you been impressed with a current teammate or have a former teammate who left an impression on you?
BK: Yes, Addison Pehrson.

VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?
BK: Cambri Casey keeps everyone laughing and Addi [Pehrson] is the most serious.

VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
BK: Listen to my music and try to calm my nerves.

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
BK: Everyone enjoys being around each other which makes the experience more fun, all of us have a bond.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
BK: Coach Wood [high school softball coach], he has the confidence in me, pushes me my hardest when I’m down, and gives me so many opportunities.
