2024-2025 Cushing Tigers Basketball Preview – Presented by Cushing’s Orthopedic Specialists – Cushing Primary Care

CUSHING TIGERS

Coach: Jake Christenson

23-24 Record: 17-9

Cushing High School head basketball coach Jake Christenson is looking forward to turning the Tigers loose on the court this year. “We are returning four starters from our first area tournament team in 15 years,” he said. “They will all be seniors with a couple more seniors that will play from that class. We also have more depth than usual with a few good juniors. It should be a very exciting year. We have two guys that may have a chance to play beyond high school somewhere.” The team will be led in part by senior

returning starter Max Wood, who led the team in scoring and rebounds last season. Kanaan Guerrero was second in scoring, first in assists, and tied for deflections with Wood. Guerrero plays the game year-round and has been dedicated to bettering himself on the court. “Good shooter, very unselfish, and a smart player who will be running our point guard position this year,” said coach Christenson. Lane Wood and Roman Tucker are some “unsung heroes” on the team who are hard workers and lead by example. “Neither are scared to get on the floor or rough play,” said coach Christenson. Curtis Parmley is another great addition to the team as a junior. Koda Chavez has a lot of potential as a shooter as well. An underclassman to watch is Sam Kendrick, a great athlete, good shooter, and has great timing when blocking shots and rebounding.
