2024-2025 Cushing Lady Tigers Basketball Preview – Presented by Cushing’s Orthopedic Specialists – Cushing Primary Care

GIRLS

Coach: Mason Baade

23-24 Record: 2-23

The Cushing Lady Tigers are hoping for a good year. “We will be led by a group of seniors and juniors who were all either returning starters or played in several varsity games,” said head coach Mason Baade. “We also are a young team. This summer we had sophomores and freshmen that got either a lot of playing time or gained some experience for the speed of high school basketball.

We are a physical and fast-paced team. With this being my second year here, we are hoping to build on the success that we had this summer to the upcoming season.”

One senior, Ella Nanaeto, will be looked to as a leader on the court. “Ella has been working really hard to get where she is today,” said coach Baade. “She has seen how successful our team is when she is performing her best and leading our team. She has been a gym rat this summer constantly working
on her shooting form and consistency. She has put in hours of hard work to be where she is now and will be leading us to hopefully a winning record this season.”

Emery Turner, a junior, is a hard worker who will be an important contributor on the court. “She looks to do all the little things that don’t always show in the stat sheet and her hustle alone hypes up our team,” said coach Baade. “She is a physical player and will constantly show you 100% while she is on the floor. I’m very excited to see what she can do with more opportunities this upcoming season.”

A couple of underclassmen to watch are Remington Powell and Brylen Scalf. “Remi did start to show that she was a young player whose skills were still growing around the end of the year, but she has put in the time to become one of our best players this year. I look forward to see how she performs and handles a little bit more responsibility during her sophomore year,” said coach Baade. “Brylen may not be the tallest player, but she certainly isn’t scared of anyone. She is a very confident guard with the ball and isn’t intimidated by anyone on the inside. She has the capability to make threes as well as finding a way to get to the bucket. I look forward to she the potential she has as a freshman and the upcoming years.”
