Chandler’s Ally Baxter – Wrestling Spotlight – Presented by Danker Insurance

By Scott Metz

Chandler High School senior Ally Baxter plays an integral role to the Girl’s Wrestling team. Ally has been a dedicated team member, having been a Lady Lion wrestler for 4 years.

Ally is a big believer in the concept of a team and having a mentality of a team working together. Ally stated, “As a team, we all appreciate each teammate in their own way. We always try and appreciate each person. We do not let a teammate feel under appreciated.”

Keeping this mentality, there is one teammate that Ally enjoys working with the most. Ally responded, “The teammate I enjoy working with the most is Gracie. She is my wrestling partner, and since we know each other’s moves, we can just chain wrestle.”

For Ally, what it means to represent her school and her community means, “To be the best, to show people that Chandler is a good school, and we mean business. Also, that we are serious about what we do.”

In terms of who Ally’s role model is, she looks towards a coach for inspiration. “My biggest role model is Coach Harris. She is a body builder, and seeing her work out in 100° weather in the summer makes me want to work just as hard as she does.” Ally goes onto to praise her coach, and stated, “Coach Davis pushed me to be the best player and person I could be- even if someone better is out there. Coach Davis really pushed me to work harder and be better.”

When Ally was asked what motivates her, she looks inward, and stated, “Being the best at what I do motivates me.”

In regard to what it has taken for Ally to be successful at wrestling, Ally explained, “It has taken long practices, working harder and harder each day, tears, discomfort, and disappointment.”

After graduating from Chandler High School, Ally plans on pursuing a trade. Ally stated, “After graduating from high school, I want to become an underwater welder.”
